Ballpark Breakdown

History

Opened in 2012 on the former Miami Orange Bowl site, loanDepot park has hosted the 2017 MLB All-Star Game and multiple World Baseball Classic rounds, including the 2026 tournament. The building is young by MLB standards but has already staged major international baseball moments.

Neighborhood

The Little Havana setting gives the trip a stronger sense of place than the stadium alone. Cuban food, coffee, and neighborhood landmarks make it worth arriving early or staying nearby after the final out.

Fan Passion

Marlins fans who show up bring color and energy, but the atmosphere still depends heavily on attendance and matchup. A fuller lower bowl transforms the experience.

Accessibility

The park is most practical by car or rideshare, with surrounding garages and surface lots. It is not as seamless as the best transit-first downtown parks, so allow extra arrival time.

Team Stores

The Marlins team store carries current hats, jerseys, City Connect gear, and souvenirs. The selection has improved, though the retail experience remains more compact than the tour’s top parks.

Traditions

Billy the Marlin remains the most visible game-day personality. The team continues to build newer traditions around Miami culture, music, color, and international baseball.

Sightlines

The modern seating bowl offers clean views from most areas, especially the lower level behind home plate. Air conditioning and comfortable seating make nine innings easy even in August.

Concessions

The current menu leans into Miami: Cuban sandwiches, croquetas, empanadas, Latin-inspired dishes, the Lineup food hall, and the 3o5 value menu give the ballpark real local flavor.

⚾ Overall Feel

loanDepot park is comfortable, colorful, and more enjoyable than many fans expect. The crowd can be inconsistent, but the roof, seating, local food, and Little Havana setting carry the experience. Most importantly: build the cheesesteak behind home plate into your game plan.
